This longstanding tradition of client-centric service began over a decade ago, when The Coulter Law Firm, LLC was founded by Joan. As a mother and former Special School District (SSD) teacher, Joan was passionate about helping others, especially children and those with children. The firm originally was established as a sole practitioner practice under the name Joan A. Coulter, Attorney and Counselor at Law. During the first years of the firm, Joan worked predominately in family law, though occasionally helping her clients with other matters such as traffic violations. She envisioned a firm that treated her clients like family and saw it as the highest compliment when they returned for additional service or referred their friends and family. Joan works everyday to make that vision a reality.
A few years later, Joan was delighted to know that her son, Curran Coulter had decided to follow in her footsteps and attend law school. Like Joan, Curran attended to St. Louis University School of Law. During his time there, Curran had Legal Externships and Legal Clerkships in St. Louis, Missouri and in St. Charles, Missouri. He worked in both small private firms and in large government departments. He particularly enjoyed working with veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Learning from all of these experience, Curran graduated to begin working with Joan.
The Coulters saw an opportunity to build on their diverse strength for the benefit of their clients. They expanded the firms practice areas to include areas that are often requested by their clients - estate planning, and bankruptcy. The firm also changed its name from Joan A. Coulter, Attorney and Counselor at Law to The Coulter Law Firm, LLC. However, some things didn't change: The firm still delivers that client-centric approach, remaining committed to advocating for their clients.
